PhotoNotes Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how PhotoNotes handles information when you use the app.

Developer: PhotoNotes

PhotoNotes is designed to help you create lightweight photo and voice notes while keeping your data under your control. The current version of PhotoNotes does not operate its own server, does not sell your data, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use advertising SDKs.

Summary

In the current version:

Information Handled by PhotoNotes

PhotoNotes may store the following information locally on your device when you choose to create or edit notes:

This information is used to provide the app's note-taking, search, reminder, storage, export, and organization features.

Local Storage

PhotoNotes stores your note metadata and media files in the app's private storage on your device. Other apps cannot normally access this storage unless you choose to export or share content.

Deleting a note in PhotoNotes removes the note metadata and its associated app-stored photo or audio file. Deleting the PhotoNotes app from your device removes the app's local data from that device, subject to normal iOS behavior.

Camera and Photo Library

PhotoNotes may ask for camera access when you choose to take a photo note. Camera access is used only to capture photos for notes.

PhotoNotes may ask for photo library access when you choose to import an image. Imported images are compressed and stored inside the app as note content. PhotoNotes does not save its compressed note photos back to your camera roll unless you manually share or export them through another app or iOS feature.

Microphone and Audio

PhotoNotes may ask for microphone access when you choose to record a voice note. Audio recordings are stored locally inside the app and are associated with the note you create or edit.

If you import an audio file, including from Apple's Voice Memos app or the iOS document/share flow, PhotoNotes copies that audio into the app's private storage. The original file selected from another app is not deleted by PhotoNotes.

Speech Recognition and Transcription

PhotoNotes may use Apple's Speech framework to suggest a title from a voice note or to transcribe a voice note when you choose to use those features. The recognized text may be stored locally with the note to help you find it later through search.

PhotoNotes does not send voice recordings or transcripts to a developer-operated server.

OCR and Photo Text Recognition

PhotoNotes may use Apple's Vision framework to recognize text from a photo when you choose OCR features or when automatic OCR is enabled in the app settings. Recognized text may be saved locally with the note to make the note searchable.

OCR text is used for note organization and search. PhotoNotes does not send photos or OCR text to a developer-operated server.

Location

PhotoNotes may ask for location access if you enable saving location with notes. When enabled and allowed by you, PhotoNotes may save your current location with a note, including latitude, longitude, approximate accuracy, and capture time.

Location saving is optional. You can disable location saving in PhotoNotes settings or revoke location permission in iOS Settings.

Notifications and Reminders

PhotoNotes uses local iOS notifications only when you set reminders for notes. Reminder dates and status are stored locally with the note. Notification delivery is handled by iOS.

Sharing and Export

When you choose to share or export a note, PhotoNotes may create export content such as note text, compressed photo files, and audio files. The content is then sent to the destination app or service that you choose through the iOS share sheet.

The destination app or service is responsible for its own privacy practices. PhotoNotes cannot control how another app or service handles information after you choose to share it.

iCloud Sync

The current version of PhotoNotes does not include PhotoNotes-operated cloud sync and does not use a developer-operated server to sync your notes.

If iCloud sync is added in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated before that release to explain what data is synced, how it is stored in your personal iCloud account, and how deletion and sync settings work.

Support Communications

If you contact support by email or another support channel, the developer may receive your email address and the information you choose to include in your message. This information is used only to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, and improve support.

Do not send sensitive note content, photos, audio recordings, or location information in support messages unless you choose to do so.

Third Parties

PhotoNotes uses Apple system frameworks and services that are part of iOS, such as camera, photo picker, microphone, speech recognition, Vision OCR, Core Location, local notifications, share sheet, and app storage.

PhotoNotes does not include third-party advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, analytics SDKs, or developer-operated AI providers in the current version.

If this changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy and App Store privacy information will be updated before release.

Tracking and Advertising

PhotoNotes does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. PhotoNotes does not sell your data and does not use your notes, photos, audio, transcripts, location, or tags for advertising.

Children

PhotoNotes is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children on a developer-operated server. The app stores note content locally on the user's device. Parents or guardians should supervise device and app use where appropriate.

Data Security

PhotoNotes relies on iOS app sandboxing and device security features to protect app data stored locally on your device. You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple ID, passcode, and backups secure.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and you should avoid storing highly sensitive information in any app unless you understand the risks.

Data Deletion

You can delete notes inside PhotoNotes. Deleting a note removes the note metadata and associated app-stored photo or audio file from local app storage.

You can delete the PhotoNotes app from your device to remove local app data from that device, subject to normal iOS behavior and any device backups you may have.

If you exported or shared a note with another app or service, deletion inside PhotoNotes does not delete copies held by that destination app or service.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when PhotoNotes changes features, storage behavior, privacy practices, or legal requirements. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date.
